Testimonials
The Lecture was very informative. The information
discussed offered a perspective that I have never personally encountered. this experience made the issues associated with
violence against women more pronounced. I think it would be more informative for the rest of society to have this perspective
and similar situations of violence against women publicized. - Fiona, York University
I found the speakers stories to be very touching and
interesting. They gave us a different perspective - something we don't get to read about in text books. I think both women
and men would benefit from hearing their stories and over all I really enjoyed the lecture. - Nicole, York U
I think the guest speakers gave us great personal insight
on this important issue. I think that it is one thing to read about, but to hear real stories brings much more meaning to
understanding the importance of issues of violence against women. Being aware of the things women go through and how they
can get help was very benificial. It was a good lecture and I enjoyed it. - Frosso, York U
Todays lecture was very informative. I like that instead
of learning the facts about domestic violence we were able to hear survivors first hand experience with domestic violence,
they gave information that we can not learn from textbooks. Something I didn't take into account before todays lecture
was that domestic violence not only affects the victim but also their children can have long term effects. It was sad
the hear that the children of these women are still struggling. Their work with helping women is something that is really
amazing and it is good they were able to turn their past experience into helping other women to prevent the same things that
they went through. - Cindy, York U
Both Janet & Cherie who expressed their experiences
with domestic violence were touching and brave. Since domestic violence is a hard topic to talk about it was nice for the
speakers to share their stories. Being aware and having information on domestic violence and abuse is helpful. Both speakers
opened my eyes more about domestic violence and want to take action to help people who have been abused. These strong women
gave way to hope for everyone. - Jourdane, York U
"Today's lecture was very insightful on abuse
done to women. It was very touching the personal experiences of the speakers. In many instances I have seen women being abused
and have not done anything in fear of getting involved. Todays speakers really made me realize the importance of not being
a bystander." "Even one person can make a difference" - S. L. York U
